Gregor Fisken Drives to a Superb Win at Silverstone Classic

Written by Sporting Cars.

Stepping in at the last minute when Bobby Verdon-Roe found himself stranded in Portugal and unable to make the race. Gregor took to the challenge like a duck to water (literally) with a wet qualifying he had to quickly get used to the car and finished a careful 5th place, ready for the race on Saturday morning.
The sun came out and everybody was looking forward to a dry race. From the start Gary Pearson quickly sped into the lead and Gregor had to battle with the field on the first lap, getting the bit between his teeth and started to move through the field getting up to 2nd place some 12 seconds behind Pearson when they came in for the pit stop. A really slick stop ensured that Fisken came back out virtually with Pearson and after posting fastest lap of the race took over the lead. Pearson hung on for a couple of laps but then had a part spin and started to drop back. Meanwhile Fisken kept his head down and took a well deserved victory, some 14 seconds in the lead after the 50 minute race.
The 246 Dino is leading the championship and we are all looking forward to the Goodwood Revival where regular driver Bobby Verdon-Roe will be back in action.

Monza Front Row Lock-out !!!

Written by Sporting Cars.

The Sporting & Historic Engineers Racing Team locked out the front row of the grid at the Classic Endurance race meeting at the historic Monza circuit.
Giovanni Lavaggi and Steven Read taking pole in the Ferrari 512M with Emanuele Pirro and Bob Earl securing the front of the grid only .02 seconds off pole in the Ferrari 512S.
A pulsating race saw Pirro get the better start, then both cars trading fastest lap times until fuel issues struck both cars only 5 minutes from the chequered flag.
The race also saw rare outings in Italy for 2 other Sporting and Historic race cars. The Alfa Romeo T33/3 and T33/2 Daytona, both of which attracted lots of attention by the adoring public, especially the sight of Nanni Galli re-united with the historic Alfa Romeo's.

Emanuele Pirro Joins the Sporting & Historic Car Engineers Team

Written by Sporting Cars.

Emanuele Pirro joins the Sporting & Historic Car Engineers team for some of the Classic Endurance Racing series.
He tested at Silverstone recently with the Ferrari 512S, Alfa Romeo T33/T3 and Lola T290 in preparation for Spa where driving the Alfa he put in a superb performance to lead the race for the first lap, eventually being passed by the much nimbler Chevron B19, who edged away. Pirro ran a very strong 2nd place then handed over to the owner for the second half of the race who brought the car home to a well deserved 7th overall.
The Alfa having been restored by ourselves over the last couple of years ran faultlessly and a delighted Emanuele commented on how good the engine felt and what a joy the car was to drive.
This weekend Emanuele joins us at Dijon for the Classic Endurance Racing Series in the Ferrari 512S, which he will share with Peter Read and Bob
Earle.
